Frequently Asked Questions

  • I specialize in working with teens and young adults of all gender identities and expressions, typically between the ages of 13 and 30. If you're outside this range and feel like my vibe is speaking to you, reach out and let's see if we're a good fit.

  • If it matters to you, it matters to me. There's no threshold of suffering you have to meet before you're allowed to ask for support. You don't need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a particularly dramatic reason to be here. Therapy isn't just for people who are falling apart. It's also for people who are functioning just fine and want to maintain that.

Anyone can benefit from having a dedicated space to process, reflect, and grow. If you've been thinking about it, that's enough of a reason. The fact that you've even made it to this page is telling.

  • The first session is really just us getting to know each other — and I mean that literally. I'm a stranger to you, and I don't expect you to open up to a stranger. So let's not be strangers. We'll go over some important logistics like confidentiality and how the process works, and then we'll just... talk. I want to know who you are, what you're into, what your life looks like. The goal is for you to leave feeling like you just had a really good convo, not like you just filled out a form about your feelings.

  • Honestly the best way to find out is just to hop on a call. Research actually shows that the therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of successful treatment, meaning I could have every credential in the book, but if we don't vibe, it just won't work. This is why I offer a free 15-minute consultations where we can talk about what you're looking for, I can tell you a bit about how I work, and we can both get a feel for whether this is the right fit. No pressure, no commitment. If I'm not your person I'll do my best to point you toward the person who is.

  • Most clients start with weekly sessions, which tends to build the most momentum early on. As you make progress, we can reassess together and adjust frequency based on what feels right for you — whether that's biweekly, more frequently, or eventually tapering down.

As for length of treatment, that's entirely up to you. Some people come for a few months to work through something specific, others stay for years. There's no timeline you're expected to follow and no finish line you have to cross. We go as long as it's useful and as long as you want to be here.

  • I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly.

Insurance companies can be incredibly restrictive. They dictate the type of therapy you can receive, the length of treatment, and often require a formal diagnosis to justify care. Ethically, I'm not always comfortable assigning diagnoses — especially to younger clients.

What I do offer: superbills. These are detailed receipts with the necessary codes that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you may get a meaningful chunk back. I also work with Thrizer, a platform that handles the reimbursement process on your behalf so you're only paying your estimated copay at the time of session rather than waiting weeks for a check.

I recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits before we get started.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate — basically a written estimate of the expected cost of your care. As a private pay provider I am required to give this to any client who requests one or who is uninsured.

TL;DR It's just a document outlining what you can expect to pay so there are no surprises.

  • I ask that you pretty please provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made between 24-48 hours will be charged 50% of the session rate. Cancellations or no-shows with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session rate.
